The Easter Island Rapa Nui lies in the South-East Pacific, more than 3,500 km off the Chilean coast. Because of the Moai cult (638 stone figures) the people destroyed their own livelihood. They needed so many logs to transport the heavy sculptures to the coast, so that finally, the last tree was cut down. To this day, the writing Rongorongo (top) is not deciphered.
Rapa Nui
Die Osterinsel Rapa Nui liegt mehr als 3.500 km von der chilenischen Küste entfernt, mitten im offenen Südost-Pazifik. Mit dem Kult um die größten Moais (638 Steinfiguren) haben sich die Einwohner letztlich ihre eigene Lebensgrundlage zerstört, denn für den Transport der schweren Skulpturen zur Küste wurde schließlich der letzte Baum gerodet. Übrigens: Bis heute ist die Schrift Rongorongo (oben), die es nur auf der Osterinsel gab, nicht entziffert.
